My Pleasure

My Pleasure

I just saw one of the most beautiful things I have seen in a while.  I was waiting in line at Chick-Fil-A to get a milkshake.  And, YES, they are good enough to wait in line for!  This line was fairly long in spite of the negative media generated by some taken out of context comments made by the CEO.  I am not going to get into this debate.  Suffice it to say, business was booming!

But, in the front of this long line was a man with a protest sign that said “EQUALITY IS A HUMAN RIGHT”.  He had this sign tucked under his arm, but the sign was about 3 feet by 3 feet in size.  He kept spinning around so everyone could see his sign.  You see, he was waiting in line for his FREE refill for his Chick-Fil-A soft drink.  When the gentleman working the cash register was waiting on a customer in front of the protestor, I saw him look at the man’s sign.  When the cashier finished with his current customer, he looked directly at the protestor and said, “Yes, sir, how may I serve you?”  The protestor asked for a refill on his Coke.  The cashier asked if he would like more ice, and the man said no.  When the cashier refilled the drink and wiped off the outside of the cup to remove any spilled Coke, he handed it back to the protestor.  The protestor said thanks, and the cashier, making eye contact, said, “My pleasure, sir.”

I can’t tell you how many times I have heard a Chick-Fil-A employee say those same words.  But, today was the most beautiful expression of it.  I believe I saw Jesus today.  He was working at a Chick-Fil-A serving people regardless of who they were or whether or not they shared his beliefs.  Simply, beautiful!
